" I share a birthday with Vincent van Gogh (3/30). I’m so pleased to have even this tiny detail in common with a genius whose work I so admire. My starry night series of dramatic New Mexican mountains under starry skies is definitely influenced by Vincent’s starry night paintings. According to a publication by MoMA“Van Gogh assigned an emotional language to night and nature that took them far from their actual appearances…applied with gestural verve and immediacy.” I don’t dare try to compare my own work to such a master’s but I do want to say thank you to Vincent for the masterpieces he created during his short time on earth.
